MIRI: Members of the public can be the best judge of the performance of the Senadin branch of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Senadin assemblyman Datuk Lee Kim Shin said.

A social and welfare body affiliated to a political party had claimed that the branch in some ways had failed to deliver its services efficiently, particularly in meeting the people’s need and demand and failed to solve some problems faced by them.

Debunking the allegation, Lee who is SUPP Senadin branch chairman said: “Members of the public can go through the record of cases being solved by us since 2011. They are all there systematically recorded for everyone to view and review. We have nothing to hide and nothing to lose by letting the public view them.”

Admitting that there were times when they seemed to fail to deliver, Lee said the public must understand that they also faced some constraints and limitations in terms of funding and the problems involved other agencies.

“For some cases we had to defer their implementation and sometimes they seemed to have fallen into deaf ears of the government. Some people failed and refused to understand that there are some other areas or aspects that need to be looked into,” he said.

Saying it was baseless to make such claim, Lee told the people not to be blind to what was going on in the constituency which was thriving with development through the collaboration and initiative made by the government and private sector.

“It might be hard to believe that it was once just a peat soil forest and gradually turned into not just one satellite new township but two, namely Permyjaya and Senadin. It is now a highly populated area in Miri with more activities, facilities and infrastructure coming to meet the needs and demand of the people,” continued Lee.

Lee assured that the party emphasised on efficient and effective service delivery and sincerely worked for the people with no hidden agenda.

“It will not solve the problem if we keep on pointing fingers and claiming credit over the effort made by someone. We have been here for a long time and I am sure most would know what we have done,” he pointed out.
