KUALA LUMPUR: A fire broke out on the 10th floor of Tower Two of Bukit Aman (Federal police headquarters) here yesterday.

However, no casualties were reported.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar in a Twitter feed said the cause is being investigated.

He said only documents that were of not much importance were kept at the corridor of the 10th floor, which was most affected by the blaze.

“No casualties were reported, the cause is being investigated. Stop spreading rumours,” he said.

Assistant head of Corporate Communications at the Inspector-General of Police Secretariat, Datin Asmawati Ahmad earlier had said the fire broke out at 5.20pm and smoke also filled the ninth floor.

“The ninth floor houses the Narcotics Department while the 10th floor the Criminal Investigation Department,” she said.

Meanwhile, a Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the fire was extinguished at 7.47pm. He said 24 firemen in four fire engines from the Hang Tuah, Sentul and Titiwangsa fire stations were involved in the firefighting operations.

“The fire involved a book shop on the 10th floor,” he said. — Bernama
