KUALA LUMPUR: The police have warned of stern action against the organisers and participants of any rally planned to be staged in the city today.

Kuala Lumpur Police deputy chief Datuk Law Hong Soon said stern action would be taken against the organisers as well as those who take part, attend or were present at any rally in the city.

He said the police had not given permission for any rally and stern action would be taken to ensure peace and order in the city.

Law said KL police had obtained information and intelligence reports that a rally was being planned by the Demi Malaysia group and other NGOs around Kuala Lumpur today.

“The rally, if it takes place, will strike fear in the people for their safety if they are in the city,” he told a press conference at the Dang Wangi District Police headquarters here.-Bernama
