St Theresa’s church to have bell tower annex

SERIAN: St Theresa’s Parish Council here signed a contract with Syarikat Alson Enterprise yesterday to build a bell tower annex to the main church and thereafter handed over the site to the contractor.

The project was proposed two years ago with funds raised when celebrating the feast of St Theresa.

The 19.5 metre high bell tower costing about RM121,000 was designed by I Jong Architect and agreed by the Parish Council, who advise church goers to keep away from the site to be fenced up by the contractor.

The project is estimated to take five months to complete and Parish Council chairman Dennis Sung appeals for donations from wellwishers again to make up for a shortage of funds for the project.

Donation cheques must be made payable to St Theresa’s Parish Council, Serian and sent to Chop King Thai, No. 29 Fortuna Plaza, Serian Bazaar or call Sung at 082-874327.

Present at the signing ceremony were Rector Rev Fr Paul Herry, Sung, architect Ivy Jong, contractor Aloysius Barnabas Badeh and members of the parish council.
