KUCHING: The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of SMK Batu Lintang successfully collected RM60,000 from its fund-raising jogathon held on Aug 14 here.

With the proceeds from the jogathon, the PTA purchased eight units of LCD projectors worth some RM10,000 and donated them to the school.

“Over 280 participants including students, teachers and parents of the school took parts in the event’s six categories which included Boys Junior, Boys Senior, Men’s Open, Girls Junior, Girls Senior and Women’s Open,” said a press statement from the association.

The new projectors will replace some of the malfunctioning equipment in the science laboratories and some will be used in the classrooms to enable teachers to carry out their teaching more effectively.

PTA president Chan Siew Loon presented the projectors to school principal Saftuyah Adenan during the school assembly recently.

In his speech, Chan expressed his gratitude to the teachers, parents and students as well as donors for their support in making the fund-raising project a success. He hoped that they will continue to support the PTA in its various activities especially during future fund raising projects.

Chan revealed that the association will carry out more activities to improve the school facilities including upgrading of the ICT facilities, beautification project for the school compound, financing the school’s academic programmes as well as the presentation of prizes and awards for outstanding students.
