KUCHING: Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) Penrissen Branch held a bowling competition for its members in conjunction with its 60th anniversary here recently.

More than 50 players took part for the Datuk Dr Jerip Susil Challenge Trophy. DBNA president Datuk Ik Pahon, who also took part in the game, later handed over prizes to winners and branch chairman Aloysius Kuyong.

In his speech at the closing ceremony, Ik Pahon said the next bowling competition would be held as ‘DBNA Merdeka 10-pin Bowling Challenge’. He said the game format would change in that each team must consist of at least a female player and a bowler aged 50 and above.

“This is going to be an annual event that will always have slight changes in its format and title,” he said.

In commending effort made by the branch that brought members together, Ik Pahon said: “Apart from promoting healthy activity for the members, this would be the time that we see our members and share ideas with one another.” Winners, be they in groups or individuals, received cash prizes, trophies, medals and certificates of participation.

Meanwhile, Aloysius said an anniversary branch dinner would be held this Nov 7 at Kampung Bratan, Jalan Puncak Borneo where Assistant Minister of Public Health and Bengoh assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil is expected to attend as the guest of honour.

“Tickes are on sale for RM350 per table and there will be many interesting activities during the night including lucky draws, karaoke, and ‘Golden Voice’,” he added. Those who want to buy the tickets can contact Aloysius at 012-8983602, or obtain it from the committee members.
