LIMBANG: The Merapok-Sindumin Sabah Immigration Post will operate as usual today – from 6am to 10pm.

State Immigration director, Dato Mohd Zulfikar Ahmad, said the government had yet to decide whether to extend the closing time.

This means that only four entry points, between Sarawak and Brunei, will close at midnight beginning today.

The four that will operate from 6am till midnight are Sungai Tujuh (Miri),
Tedungan (Limbang), Pandaruan (Limbang) and Mengkalap (Lawas).

“The decision to extend the operating hours was made following a bilateral agreement between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Brunei Sultan Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in Brunei recently,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

Also present was Limbang Immigration chief Mohamad Osman.

Mohd Zulfikar added that the operating hours were the same on the Brunei side, too.

“The extended hours will facilitate better access and give convenience for the people on both sides.

“It will also boost the economy
of the two countries and
strengthen ties between both countries.”

Najib had announced the extended hours at the four points last August 11.
