PSD’s ‘1Serve’ trial run in November

JOHOR BAHARU: The Public Service Department (PSD) will be introducing the ‘1Serve’ service to facilitate members of the public in dealing with various government agencies, on a trial run in November.

PSD director-general Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi Zainal said the service is a product of the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS).

“This (‘1Serve’) counter is about more than providing services under PSD, as it can also handle renewal of licences, identity cards and passports,” he said when met by reporters after launching the 2015 Administrator Convention organised by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, here yesterday.

He said it is a new approach using information technology to facilitate various services using the same concept as the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC).

Mohamad Zabidi said the new service besides being convenient to the people and saving time, would also empower PSD personnel further. He said PSD had obtained the agreement of eight agencies involved on their services in which three of them will be taking part in the trial run.

“We need to train the staff so that they are ready to face the people before we start with the implementation,” he said. For the trial run, the ‘1Serve’ service will start at PSD headquarters before being expanded to other states, said Mohamad Zabidi. — Bernama
