MIRI: A local man in his 30’s has been arrested, believed responsible for several break-ins around Senadin and Tudan, said Miri acting police chief, Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit yesterday morning.

Stanley revealed this during a press conference at Miri Central Police Station (CPS).

According to a police source, detectives from CPS led by Inspector Nasrul Hadi Jahat apprehended the suspect when they raided a house in Desa Senadin around 6.30pm on Wednesday.

“Police recovered allegedly stolen items worth more than RM20,000 including gold jewellery,” Stanley said.

There were also other items like several laptops, two monitor screens (taped up by the suspect), a few wristwatches and house breaking tools.

The Borneo Post was informed that the suspect had been released from prison two weeks ago for the same kind of offence (burglaries).

“We believe we have solved a string of house break-in cases in Permyjaya and Lutong with the arrest of the suspect,” Stanley said.

Detectives managed to track down one of the suspect’s victims via a digital camera memory card found in the suspect’s house.

“Inside the card were several family pictures including a car and our team managed to track down the victim’s address via the car’s registration plate number,” Stanley said.

The suspect has been detained at CPS and the case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
