ARAU: University students must think rationally and express their views in a civil and responsible manner so that such behaviour could be emulated by the young.
Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) vice-chancellor, Datuk Prof Dr Kamarudin Hussin said undergraduates were not prevented from expressing their views but must be done through the proper channels without contravening the law.
He said irresponsible actions of some university students such as joining illegal rallies would only have a negative impact on their future.
He was speaking at the opening of UniMAP’s 10th Convocation Festival (FestKon) and its Malaysia Day celebration, which was graced by the Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is also the university’s chancellor, at Dataran Boulevard yesterday.
Kamarudin said FestKon, being held from yesterday until Sept 21, was organised in conjunction with the university’s convocation this Saturday.
In conjunction with the convocation, UniMAP in collaboration with Aeronautics Technology Sdn Bhd, is also organising a space satellite exhibition being held at UniMAP’s Tuanku Faizuddin Putra Library.
Kamarudin said apart from that, the FestKon secretariat in collaboration with Petrosains Kuala Lumpur, was also organising the inaugural Petrosains Games. — Bernama
