Good air quality in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The air quality reported nationwide is good with 17 areas recording healthy air on the Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at 8 am today.

There was no area with unhealthy API reading.

According to the Department of Environment’s (DOE) portal, 10 areas in Sabah and Sarawak recorded health air quality with the Miri Industrial Institut recording an API of 24, Limbang (28), Kapit (31), Keningau (34), Kota Kinabalu (38), Miri (39), Sibu (43) Kuching and Sarikei (44) and Samarahan (50).

The seven other areas with good air quality are Tanjung Malim, Perak (25), Muar, Johor (43), Jerantut in Pahang and Seremban in Negeri Sembilan (45), Petaling Jaya (49) and Kuala Selangor and Perai in Penang (50).

Meanwhile, 30 areas recorded moderate API readings with the highest in Kemaman in Terengganu at 69.

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous.
