MIRI: It is important to memorise the contact numbers of emergency services to call in case of a fire, robbery or accident, said Assistant Minister of Communications Datuk Lee Kim Shin.
Lee said this yesterday during a house-to-house visit to the residents of Hilltop Garden, urging the people to learn the right numbers to dial in the event of an emergency.
During the visit, Lee was accompanied by a team of police officers from the mobile police station unit, community leaders, councillors, members of the Hilltop Neighbourhood Committee and volunteers.
Apart from getting feedback on safety and security issues in the housing estate and Miri in general, Lee also distributed stickers displaying emergency contact numbers for the Fire and Rescue Department, police and hospital.
He advised parents to ensure that children do not make prank calls to the agencies concerned as it is a waste of time and resources.
Lee also reminded the residents to co-operate and work together with the police to enhance the safety and security in the area.
