KUCHING: YTL Land & Development Bhd (YTL Land) plans to place more emphasis on its retail assets, capitalising on building tourism by hosting world class events.

According to vice president Joseph Yeoh, such assets include the likes of Starhill Gallery which he hoped to build up its brand in terms of premier and luxury items.

Starhill Gallery is one of Asia’s top shopping malls with more than 330,000 square feet of luxury retaillers. The mall offers private and exclusive experiences crafted for those extraordinary few as they define and express their personal style and personality.

“Starhill Gallery has been the premium destination for curated shopping and dining experiences in Malaysia and Southeast Asia for many years,” he told The Borneo Post.

“This year, we are reinforcing our position as a gallery of rich experiences while highlighting that Starhill Gallery is the place to be as we evolve and introduce new events.”

Among said events include the ninth instalment of ‘A journey through time’ this year from November 20 to 27. it will feature rare private collections, first-in market editions and equisite pieces from over 125 luxury brands. This will capture the tourists with interest in said items.

This year, Yeoh said the event will take on a new level via an evolution in format to make it more inclusive and accessible to be a wider spectrum of local and foreign visitors, especially the younger generation.

YTL Land will also hose its first ever Starhill Gallery Fashion Day out Autumn/Winter 2015 in September and the 1Malaysia Year End Sale.

“Against a dynamic retail scene in Kuala Lumpur, Starhill Gallery must remain relevant and exciting to both locals and tourists attracted by unique experiences and befitting of global tastes,” Yeoh reaffirmed.
