MIRI: The Barisan Nasional (BN) has a proven track record, making it the party of choice for voters.

Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau said no matter what the opposition may claim, only BN has strategic short- and long-term development plans for the people of Sarawak.

“BN’s strategic plans are to ensure the people could continue to live comfortably,” he said during a meet the people event at Long Ukok, Tutoh recently, which was organised by the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Tutoh Women’s wing.

He pointed out that Telang Usan received millions of ringgit in projects to uplift the people’s living standards.

“If we remain strong with BN, that will be the vital link to send our requests to the government. The opposition cannot do that, thus cannot bring any development to our area, especially an area located deep in the interior,” he said.

“There is much more needed to be done to address issues such as a lack of treated water supply, electricity, proper road connectivity and others.”

He pointed out that Telang Usan is blessed with an abundance of natural resources.

“So we must support the government’s efforts to develop and tap into these huge resources. You look around all over the world, for an area to grow from a small town to a city, it is all based on the type of natural resources available at that particular place,” he said.

“Take care of our natural resources and work closely with our government, which has all the necessary tools to further develop all these resources.”

Dennis and Baram Member of Parliament Anyi Ngau also pledged a grant of RM70,000 for the improvement of Long Ukok village.

Some 200 villagers from nine kampungs in the area attended the event.
