KOTA KINABALU: Organiser Solidariti Rakyat (SORAK) pledges to continue its Black Sunday 3.0 flashmob as planned, on October 18 at Sunday Gaya Street, for the sake of Sabah.

Organising chairman Paul Chong, who was summoned by the police on Friday, said in a statement yesterday that he had fully cooperated with the police.

“The police gave us a letter in response to the letter of notification that we sent on Monday.”

Asked whether the permit is granted or not, Chong replied that they have expected that the permit was not granted because Kota Kinabalu City Hall, the owner of the premises, did not respond to their application which was sent more than the required 10 days ago.

Meanwhile, SORAK chairman Jamain Sarudin said he has confidence that Sabah leaders will support their call to settle the illegal immigrants problem and issue through public pressure.

He also informed that the leaders of the United Sabah Alliance (USA) will come to give moral support to the event this Sunday. He declined to provide further details on the matter and did not list the names of the leaders who may attend.

Jamain added that the leaders of United Sabah Alliance will be present because these are the people who dare to fight for the future of our Sabahans.

Black Sunday made three main demands of studying the problem of illegal immigrants in Sabah:-

1) Demands the Sabah RCI Technical Committee to expedite with firm and drastic action following RCI report released in December last year.

2) Demands absolute solution to cleanse Sabah of illegal immigrants so as to reinstate Sabah’s status.

3) Calls for issuance of Sabah IC, to re-register and issue Sabah ICs to genuine Sabahans in accordance with existing laws of the country.

Jamain said although some quarters (officers) who claimed that the Black Sunday 3.0 event is “Kampungan”, he responded, “never mind to be branded kampung standard, as can be seen, Sabah is far less developed than in the Peninsular. People call us ‘orang kampung’, yes, we will show them how, our kampung way!”

He urged the public to attend wearing black T-shirt on Black Sunday 3.0 next Sunday to show their moral support.
