KOTA KINABALU: Pakatan Pro-BN (Sabah) president Zulkarnain Mahdar wants the police to investigate claims of an alleged attempt to “buy over” several members of parliament to vote for a motion of no confidence on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

“We, Pro-BN, were made to understand that there may be an attempt to initiate a vote of no confidence motion on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. We have also received information that several parties are trying to “buy over” several members of parliament to go against Najib and the current government. We hope, therefore, that the police will investigate if such claim is true, as it may cause chaos within the present government,” he said yesterday.

Zulkarnain was speaking at a press conference after lodging another police report, at the Karamunsing police headquarters yesterday, against former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for his alleged involvement in attempting to topple Najib and the Malaysian government in regards to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) issue.

“Today’s police report is to urge the relevant authority to speed up their investigation as there are open attempts by several BN leaders, including Tun Dr Mahathir, to urge Najib to resign,” he said.

According to Zulkarnain, Dr Mahathir’s recent event in Tawau showed the former premier was eager to see Najib removed from Putrajaya.

“We (Tun Dr Mahathir) had openly told those who attended the talk in Tawau to go against and not support Najib in the coming election.

“This indicates a conspiracy to oust Najib from office, pertaining to the 1MDB issue and as a BN pro-activist, we cannot let this happen.

“Datuk Seri Najib had personally called for a speedy investigation into the 1MDB issue so everybody should wait until the investigation is complete.

“We therefore urge all party members not to fall into such scheme but to stand firm and continue to support our leader Najib,” said Zulkarnain.
