KUCHING: Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) hopes to extend its 4G long term evolution (LTE) coverage in Sarawak to 42 per cent by this year end.

According to Digi’s head of Sarawak region Benny Wee, this falls in line with the group’s plans to benefit more people with high-speed internet.

“Our customers already enjoy a consistent internet experience with the introduction of 4G LTE in April this year available in major towns like Kuching, Miri and Bintulu.

“We plan to benefit more people with high-speed internet by expanding to more areas in Kuching, Miri, Bintulu, Sibu and Samarahan, which will bring its LTE footprint to 42 per cent by year-end,” he said during the launch of the iPhone 6S at its Satok outlet here on Thursday night.

Wee was speaking in conjunction with Digi’s midnight launch of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6S Plus as part of a nation-wide move beginning yesterday.

The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus brings a new dimension to iPhone’s Multi-Touch interface with 3D Touch, which senses how deeply you press the display, letting you do all kinds of essential things more quickly and simply.

The hew models introduce Live Photos which bring still images to life, transforming instant frozen-in-times into unforgettable living memories.

All these features are powered by the Apple-designed A9 chip, the most advanced chip ever in a smartphone, delivering faster performance and greater battery life. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are designed from the strongest glass on any smartphone and 7000 series aluminum, the same alloy used in the aerospace industry.
