Pretrial case management and trial for man in rape case

KUCHING: A resident of Kampung Bunga, Mile 32, Kuching-Serian road yesterday had his pretrial case management fixed on Nov 16 and trial dates on Feb 2 and 3 next year after he pleaded not guilty to raping a teenage girl.

Stevikinson Sangga, 27, appeared before Sessions Court Judge Amelati Parnell, for judgement. The offence is listed under Section 376 (2) of the Penal Code.

He will face imprisonment of not less than five years and not more than 20 years and possible lashes upon conviction.

He allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl in his room at his village at 12.15am on Nov 2, 2010.

According to the facts of the case, the accused had invited the victim from Kampung Gahat Mawang inTebedu to have sex with him.

He kissed her lips and caressed her breasts before forcing her to have sex with him although the victim was fearful as it was her first time.

Around 1am on Nov 3 the accused once again forced the girl to have sex with him at the same place. The victim was afraid but was unable to stop him.
