The quarters completely destroyed in the fire
LAHAD DATU: Two blocks of quarters belonging to KBM Quary at Kampung Membantu here were destroyed in a fire on Saturday night.
Also went up in the smoke were a motorcycle and a car.
District Fire and Rescue Service Department chief Mohd Apandi Mahmood yesterday said they were alerted of the fire at 9.30pm and rushed a fire engine and an utility vehicle with eight firefighters to the scene.
“We arrived at the scene at 10.14pm and the fire was completely extinguished at 12.10am,” he said.
Apandi said no casualty was reported and the cause of fire as well as losses were being investigated.
In Labuan, a Proton Wira Aeroback car parked next to the Kampung Sungai Labu bridge near the village of Kampung Sungai Lada, was destroyed by fire on Friday morning.
Labuan Fire and Rescue Service Department director Jainal @ Zainal Madasin said they received a distress call at 6.19am and despatched a team to the scene.
The vehicle owner, Sapawi Hj Ali, was at the site when the firemen arrived to extinguish the fire, he said, adding that the fire was put out by 6.32am.
Jainal said investigation was still being carried out to determine the cause of the fire and if any crime element was found, the case would be handed over to the police.
