I analysed Lahad Datu intrusion exhibits at IPK Sabah – Witness

KOTA KINABALU: A cyber security manager analysed Lahad Datu intrusion exhibits at the Sabah Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK Sabah), the High Court here heard yesterday.

Fauzi Mohd Darus of CyberSecurity Malaysia said he conducted the analysis on the request of an investigating officer.

He said the request was made after he returned the exhibits on April 14 last year to the investigating officer upon completing an initial inspection on the exhibits consisting of six handphones and a SIM card.

“I conducted the analysis at IPK Sabah on April 16, 2014 using forensic tool XRY v6.8 for the handphones and forensic tool XRY v6.6.1 for the SIM card,” he said.

Fauzi was testifying in the trial of 30 individuals linked to the intrusion by Sulu gunmen at Kampung Tanduo, Lahad Datu in February 2013. He told the court that he made a written report of the analysis as well as a compact disc (CD) in which the data of the analysis was loaded into.

In the dock are 27 Filipinos and three local residents who are facing one to multiple charges of being members of a terrorist group and waging war against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

They are also alleged to have recruited members for a terrorist group or wilfully harboured individuals they knew to be members of a terrorist group.

The offences were allegedly committed between Feb 12 and April 10, 2013.

The hearing before Justice Stephen Chung at the Sabah Prisons Department continues today. — Bernama
