BINTULU: Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) exists to provide services to the community, says its general manager Rodziah Morshidi.

She said as one of major organisations in Bintulu, anything that happened here, whether they were under BDA’s jurisdiction or otherwise, the BDA was responsible for almost everything.

As such, all BDA staff, she added, must acknowledge the nature of the organisation and should function like the organisation.

“It has to come from your heart and you need to be passionate in your work. BDA is a wonderful organisation to belong to because you can see the results of your work,” she said at the Innovative and Integrity Day 2015 programme held at BDA Auditorium in Wisma Bintulu yesterday.

She added that the new management team of BDA was open to criticisms which could drive them forward and improve their service delivery.

For the past six months heading the team, Rodziah said she had seen many positive changes in the organisation which were signs that what had been planned by the management team had been successful.

Based on statistics, she said Bintulu had managed to reduce the number of public complaints by 50 per cent.

Although the record did not specifically mentioned BDA, she said as one of the biggest organisations here which provided services to the people BDA must have done a good job in its delivery services.

She thus hoped that staff in every level would be consistent and responsive in providing quality services by emphasising on the response time, good attitude and always had the passion to help.

To motivate the staff further, she said the ‘Best worker of the month’ award would be introduced next year. Their work performance would be closely monitored by their bosses every month and those selected would be given incentives.

Rodziah also urged all senior managers in every division to start working out some initiatives for their respective departments on how they could improve their service delivery.

“We have to do something drastic in order to get immediate results and start with adding value to your work with sense of urgency and belonging as we are one big family,” she said.

On another subject, she congratulated the team which provided immediate relief assistance to the people of Kampung Dagang Tatau who were badly affected by the recent storm which destroyed several of their houses.

She said BDA was the first agency to go to the ground and provide immediate emergency response.

During the function yesterday, four BDA staff were presented with certificate of appreciation while others were given incentives for their excellent performance. The four recipients were Awang Abdul Kadir Awang Rahwan, Azizi Nawawi, Bohari Yahya and Josni Sohai.
