Expect exciting activities at Telaga Air Festival

KUCHING: Various exciting activities will be held in conjunction with the Telaga Air Festival scheduled for Nov 21 and 22.

Organised by the Padawa n Municipal Council (MPP), the festival promises the public exciting activities for participation with fishing and prawn-netting contests among others.

Organising chairman Kamaruddin Muhd Su’aut who is also an MPP council member said Pantai Damai assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi is expected to launch the festival.

“The festival will be a closing activity for the Padawan Fest and we expect a good reception from the public for this festival. Lots of fun activities will be organised during the festival,” he added during a press conference on Thursday.

Apart from fishing and prawn-netting there will be a Telaga Air adventure challenge such as cycling (23 kilometres), running (three kilometres) and kayaking (three kilometres).

All activities for the Telaga Air adventure challenge are open to the public and registration fee is RM80 for a team of two members.

Other activities scheduled during the festival includes children’s colouring contest, government agencies exhibition, setting-up of bazaar selling assorted goods, inter-village sporting events and karaoke competitions.

Meanwhile a grand prize of RM700 awaits the winner of the fishing competition which is open to anglers aged 10 and above.

Santubong MP Dato Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar who is also Natural Resources and Environment Minister is expected to officiate at the festival’s closing ceremony on Nov 22.

Also present during the press conference were MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang and other MPP council members.
