Government decides not to ban vape — Ismail Sabri

PUTRAJAYA: The Cabinet yesterday decided not to ban the use of electronic cigarettes or vape, according to Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Sharing the news via his Facebook page, Ismail Sabri wrote: “Good news for vapers, vaper brewers and vape merchants..the cabinet today decided not to ban the use of vape”.

In the note, he also thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and the government for understanding the aspirations of young people.

On Wednesday, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam said the government would consider banning the use of vape in the near future in order to avoid the risk of worsening the health of its users.

Dr Subramaniam said the ministry was studying the legal aspects of enforcement to be adopted in order to improve the existing laws to enable the ban. — Bernama
