KUCHING: A youth was charged at a Magistrates’ Court here yesterday with an alleged murder of another man.
Mohd Rahizan Halit, 22, from Kampung Meranek in Kota Samarahan said he understood the charge when it was read to him by an interpreter before Magistrate Portia Tham Ong Leng.
No plea was recorded.
He was accused of murdering Afham Maa’rat, 27, at a house in Kampung Sejijak, Jalan Matang between 7.30am and 9.15am on Oct 16.
He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides for a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
The court set Dec 13 for mention pending the completion of a medical report as well as post-mortem reports on the deceased.
It was reported that the deceased died after being stabbed on the body and his throat slit. The victim was found motionless inside his house in a pool of blood.
The suspect was arrested at a house in Kota Samarahan shortly after the tragic incident was discovered.
