KOTA KINABALU: Police have dismissed claim made on Facebook that three children were kidnapped and murdered in Sepanggar.

City police chief ACP M. Chandra said the claim by the Facebook account holder, identified as Radzlan Razz, that three Filipino children were kidnapped and murdered in Sepanggar and Kampung Delima was baseless.

“Police have identified the account holder, Radzlan Razz, who uploaded photos and commented on his Facebook page on November 3 at 10.24pm, claiming that three children, aged eight to 12, were kidnapped and two of them were killed and their bodies found in Kg Delima and in Sembulan.

“The police strongly deny that such an incident ever took place in the state capital. We are looking into this matter very seriously as such allegations can cause fear, concern and panic among the public.

“I therefore strongly advise the public to stop spreading rumours through social media as stern action will be taken against them,” he said yesterday.

Chandra added that a police report has been lodged and the case would be investigated under Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act.

Police are now calling for the Facebook account holder, Radzlan Razz, to come forward to give his statement to the police.

“Anyone who knows him or his whereabouts are urged to immediately contact Insp Nordalila Hamzah at 013-617 1758 or the police hotline at 088-221 191 to assist in our investigation,” Chandra said.
