Masing defends ‘merger of the minds’ concept

KUCHING: PRS president Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing has clarified that the concept of ‘merger of the minds’ is actually to defend the principles of BN.

He said an article entitled ‘The UPP-SUPP Conundrum” published in thesundaypost yesterday totally misconstrued the concept.

“The merger of the minds is to defend the BN principles, nothing more, nothing less. It should not be seen as something with an ulterior motive,” said Masing to a press conference at the PRS headquarters yesterday.

“There is nothing wrong in the defence of the principle. Do not assume that we have other agenda behind it.” said Masing, who is also Minister for Land Development.

He emphasised that it was not wrong for the state BN parties (PRS, SPDP and SUPP) to defend the BN principles.

On another note, he hoped that PBB would join in the ‘merger of the minds’ on their own will without waiting for an invitation from the three BN parties.

“It is like teaching a duck how to swim. I am sure they will agree with the concept because if we in the BN do not defend the principles of the party who else will?” he asserted.

Masing also said there should not be any insinuation that he wants to hold the number two, number three or number one post in the state.

“PRS is doing that (merger of the minds) in defence of the BN principles. Any BN member should be doing the same thing or they should get out,” he added.
