KPA and Customs treat Swinburne students to educational tour of Pending Terminal

KUCHING: Kuching Port Authority (KPA) and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department recently hosted an educational field trip at Pending Terminal for a group of 44 students from the Faculty of Business and Design of Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus.

According to a press statement from KPA, the visit was led by lecturer Dr Ling Chui Ching.

During the visit, students were given the opportunity to visit the Pending Port Area and Customs’ offices to have an overview of the work flow as well as understanding processes involved in tax collection and port operations.

The statement also said the trip had been a very valuable and inspirational experience for students to not only consolidate existing knowledge in taxation, but also how it applies in the business environment.

Meanwhile, presentations on the overview of KPA and its operations were also given by KPA (Corporate Finance) assistant general manager Robert Lau.

Royal Malaysian Customs Department assistant general manager Syarifah Norazita Wan Sazali also spoke on the function and indirect tax collection by the department.
