SJK Chung Hua Pangkalan Baru sees big improvement

KUCHING: SJK Chung Hua Pangkalan Baru at Jalan Stephen Yong this year achieved a 72 per cent overall pass rate in UPSR from just 19 per cent last year.

Those taking up Chinese Comprehension all passed, enabling the school to register 100 per cent pass rate in the subject compared to only 69 per cent last year.

The candidates also did well in Mathematics, with 96 per cent of them passing the subject, an improvement of four per cent over last year when 92 per cent passed the subject.

The school registered one 7A scorer and three 6A scorers, while two students scored 5As and three 4As. Headmistress Ling Pik Hua thanked the teachers, parents and the students for their hard work to achieve such good results.

The last time the school had a 7A scorer was in 2010.

According to Ling, this year’s 7A scorer Joseph Liew Tze Kiong deserved such excellent result as he is a hardworking pupil.

She said he did regular revision, home study with his brother and paid attention to lessons in class.
