KUCHING: The Sarawak Entrepreneur Association (SEA) Women’s Wing is organising a Christmas Appreciation Charity luncheon next month.

According to the organising chairperson Patricia Hiu, the beneficiary to this charity event is the Community Based Rehablitation (CBR) Centre, which was created in 1992 under the Social Welfare Council of Sarawak.

“The CBR’s main objective is for the training and rehabilitation for the intellectually and physically disabled young adults from the age of 18 and above,” she told a press conference here yesterday.

Hiu said the Christmas Appreciation Charity activity is undertaken by SEA women’s wing to assist the centre to create public awareness and raise fund for its activities from public and business community.

At present, the CBR Centre has a total of 238 registered members but its premises located at Jalan Bisayah, off Jalan Ong Tiang Swee here can only accommodate a maximum of 48 members.

As an appreciation to the donors, Hiu said a Christmas Appreciation Luncheon will be held on Dec 20 from 11am to 2pm at The Serenity Court, Crown Towers here.

“Donors to this Christmas Appreciation Charity will be invited to celebrate Christmas appreciation luncheon called ‘Care with Love’ with the members of CBR.

There will be talent shows and Christmas song presentations by members of the intellectually disabled from CBR Centre.

SEA has invited Welfare, Women and Family Development Minister Datuk Fatimah Abdullah and SUPP president Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian as the guests of honour to celebrate this Christmas charity event with the members of intellectually and physically disabled young adults.

At the same time, SEA is appealing for contributions to this Christmas charity project organised by its women’s wing to the members of CBR Centre.

SEA Women’s Wing aims to collect RM50,000 of contributions for this project.
