Banjarmasin allocates Rp1 Billion for HIV/AIDS

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Banjarmasin City Government through the local Health Agency has budgeted Rp1 billion for the prevention of contagious and deadly disease HIV/AIDS in 2016, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

Head of Banjarmasin Health Agency Diah R Praswati when taken to the streets to commemorate the HIV/AIDS world day Dec. 1 on Monday said the region should be very wary of this deadly disease because the case in the city is the second highest in the province. Ranked first was Tanah Bumbu district.

He said HIV cases here 163 people, and 205 people are already bearing the AIDS cases. This data was released from 2002 to 2015 as of November.

“This is very troubling, until the government gives more attention to the treatment and to ensure that does not extend,” Diah said when brochures and flowers give away action along with elements of municipal government leaders at the intersection of Lambung Mangkurat (front hotel Mentari).

According to her, it had tried to suppress the population of people living with HIV/AIDS by monitoring and regular audits of vulnerable to the virus people.

She added, to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS it has set up two VCT facilities and a comprehensive program of continuous service in eleven community health centers (puskesmas).

“This year the municipal government budget allocated for the handling of cases of HIV/AIDS is Rp800 million,” he said.

Diah said the HIV/AIDS sufferers prone at all ages. The most commonly found cases of patients between the ages of 20 to 29 years.

“So we ask all the people to beware of the disease. Infection most because like promiscuous without regard to security,” she said.
