MIRI: The upgrading of some 16km of roads for Skim Rancangan Sepupok Niah (SRSN) will start this month.

Assistant Minister of Early Childhood Education and Family Development Rosey Yunus said the RM37.1 million project had been approved by the federal government.

“Some 12 longhouses in the area will benefit from the project. The project will be implemented by the Armed Forces (ATM) under their Jiwa Murni Project,” she said after attending a meeting with longhouse chiefs in the SRSN area at Niah Sub-District recently.

Rosey, who is also Bekenu assemblywoman, told longhouse chiefs that the application for the road upgrading projects had been submitted in the last few years.

“The ATM have informed us that they will deploy their team and heavy machinery to implement the project. The signboard on the project has already been erected at the intersection.”

She wanted longhouse folk to cooperate with the ATM in the road upgrading project to ensure its smooth implementation.

The project is expected to be completed by end of next year.

Also present were Royal Malaysian Army Engineers Regiment chief engineer Brigadier-General Datuk Pahlawan Abdul Nasser Ahmad, Subis District Officer Husaini Bakir and councillor Sulaiman Ahmad.
