KUCHING: Sarawakians were well entertained during the ‘Konsert Era Sayang Sarawak’ (KESS), deemed as the biggest ever concert here, brought specially by Era FM and held at Padang Merdeka here recently.

The concert managed to draw 15,000 people, who thronged the field to catch the showcase of popular international and local artistes – 5,000 more than the number of people who attended a similar concert in Sabah a day before.

It kicked off at 8pm with the introduction of hosts and personalities from Era FM – DJ Osha, DJ Afick, DJ Chopie, DJ Fir, DJ Syazz, DJ Michelle, and most celebrated team of announcers ‘The Johara’ that consists of DJ Johan and DJ Haniff, and DJ Ray that rocked the crowd before it continued with the first performance by Lawa Nie Geng, who performed the duo’s hits entitled ‘Pasar Malam’ and a duet song with Indonesian songbird Deasy Natalina entitled ‘Aduh Aduh Sayang’. After that, Deasy performed her song ‘Masalahmu, Masalahku’ which received thunderous applause from the audience, who also sang along with her.

The show continued with performances from tall and handsome singer Nadhar who performed his latest single entitled ‘Parah’. Next, teen heart-throb Ir Radzi warmed the stage by performing his chart-topping songs entitled ‘Sempurna Waktu’ and ‘Maafkan Aku’.

After that, Wani Kayrie appeared on stage to perform her popular song ‘Jangan-Jangan’ and her rendition of Jessie J’s ‘Bang Bang’.

Handsome singer Mal Imran wowed the audience with his performance of his popular songs ‘Cinta Sukar Ditafsirkan’ and ‘Lepaskan Aku’. Mal Imran and Nadhar also performed their rendition of Sam Smith’s ‘Lay Me Down’.

Good-looking Altimet performed his famous tracks ‘Syukur’, ‘Aku Tahu’ and ‘Kalau Aku Kaya’.

Local songbird Nana Sheme made the fans sing along with her popular songs ‘Hantu Atau Buaya’ and her latest single entitled ‘Boleh Blah’.

The crowd was further entertained by another teen heartthrob Black with his popular songs ‘Mana Mungkin’, ‘Si Putih Si Merah’, ‘Takkan Terpisah’, and a duet song with RJ entitled ‘Teman Pengganti’.

Incredibly energetic singer Stacy then performed her popular songs ‘Not for Sale’, ‘Gilalah’, ‘Bosan’, and a duet song with Akim entitled ‘Kembali’.

Things got heated up as Akim & the Majistret came on stage, entertaining the crowd with their popular numbers ‘Mewangi’, ‘Potret’, ‘Obses’ and ‘Sisaku’.

Vocal powerhouse and the most celebrated artiste of the evening, Afgan, brought the house down with his heart-thumping songs ‘Bukan Cinta Biasa’, ‘Jodoh Pasti Bertemu’, ‘Aku T’lah Jatuh Cinta’ and a duet song with Wani Kayrie entitled ‘Kamu Yang Ku Tunggu’. Afgan ended his performance with his latest single ‘Knock Me Out’ that literally knocked a member of the audience out.

The concert was organised by the radio station as a token of appreciation to their fans here for their continuous support.

Astro Radio general manager for Sabah and Sarawak Hafiz Nizamuddin and Technology College Sarawak chief operating officer Amin Aznizan attended the event.
