MIRI: Angela Educational Services is holding an education counselling session at its office in Waterfront Commercial Centre here from 10am to 5pm today.

Parents, students, school-leavers and working adults intending to pursue higher education are welcome to meet experienced counsellors who will advise on study programmes available at local and overseas institutions of higher learning, as well as career options upon graduation.

“This education counselling session is one of our annual activities to provide opportunities and facilities to students who wish to further their education in Malaysia or abroad,” said education counsellor Kong Shaw Onn.

According to Kong, Angela Educational Services operates as a placement centre to assist students in applying for studies at top-notch universities in Australia, UK, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Ireland, Switzerland, Singapore and Malaysia.

The centre also helps students who obtained excellent results in school examinations to apply for scholarships and bursaries awarded by these institutions.

Angela Educational Services operated by Market Management Services Sdn Bhd (MMS) moved to a new location on the First Floor of Lot 1341, Jalan Sri Dagang, Waterfront Commercial Centre here in March this year.

Established in 1981, MMS is a leading education placement company with branches and business associates in Sibu, Bintulu, Miri, Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau and Labuan.

It functions as a representative of institutions of higher learning – promoting their courses and providing comprehensive advice to prospective students.

Services provided by MMS include assisting students in their application for admissions into universities such as preparing their application forms, visa applications, liaise with institutions regarding student applications, credit transfer, accommodation and airport pick-up.

MMS acts as an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and UK-based Ucas (Universities and Colleges Admission Service) registration centre.

It conducts IELTS classes for students, especially those intending to pursue further studies overseas.

An example of MMS former student is Othman Lim. Hailing from Miri, he has completed his A-Level, and is studying law at the Faculty of Law of University of Tasmania (Utas).

The eldest of five children is blazing a trail to study overseas to enhance his career prospects.

Lim enjoys playing basketball and table tennis and can usually find a companion opponent at the residential college where he lives, close to the main campus in Hobart.

He is enjoying the critical thinking and open discussions that characterises the study of law at Utas.

He feels well supported by academic and social support networks as well as friendly Tasmanians, and is looking forward to making new friends and professional contacts as he progresses in his study at Utas.
