MIRI: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will visit Miri Division for two days from today.

According to the Information Department yesterday, upon arriving here at 9.30am, Zahid is scheduled to fly to Long Bemang to meet the people there.

In the afternoon, some 3,000 Marudi folk are expected to attend a meet the people session with him at Rumah Hillary Jungang, Tinjar.

“We are really honoured as we have never expected this to happen, not even in our wildest dreams,” said Tuai Rumah Hillary Jungang.

Hillary said he hoped Zahid would bring good news of funding to upgrade their access road, which is in bad shape especially with the current rainy season.

He added that the longhouse supports the Barisan Nasional (BN) government and is thankful for aid channelled through Assistant Minister of Public Utilities (Water Supply) Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran, who is Marudi assemblyman.

This includes the 1Malaysia water tanks given in 2011 by the federal government and a rural electrification project.

Zahid is expected to launch the construction of Masjid Kampung Keluru Jaya in Lambir at 3.15pm.

He is also scheduled to launch the Immigration Day 2015 celebration tomorrow.
