KUCHING: A mechanic sustained injuries while trying to get his money back from a robber in Pending on Sunday night.
The 34-year-old was alone in an eatery shop when a stranger came and shoved a knife at his stomach around 11pm.
Sources said the suspect who was wearing a motorcycle helmet told the victim to go to the back of the eatery and surrender his valuables.
Fearing for his life, the victim obeyed and handed over his wallet containing about RM900 cash and took out another RM2,000 from his other pocket.
The victim attempted to stop the suspect from fleeing but was slashed on the hand with a knuckle duster.
He lodged a report at the nearest police station before heading to Sarawak General Hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating.
