Man remanded for assaulting former wife; house burgled

KUCHING: A 36-year-old man was put under remand yesterday for assaulting his former wife on Christmas eve.

According to police report made on Friday by the 35-year-old self-employed woman, around 11pm on Thursday, while she waiting in her car for her relative to close his burger stall under a bridge at Kubah Ria, her former husband suddenly appeared to scold and kick her.

And when she pulled the car door closed, the assailant used a metal rod to smash her car windscreen. The woman then quickly drove away. The case is still under investigation.

In a separate case, a 44-year-old account manager reported to police that his house in Kenyalang Park was broken into on Christmas Eve. He came home at 9.45pm to find someone had gained entry into his house through the kitchen door and he also found that a bedroom was in a mess.

Upon checking, he discovered a necklace, a bangle, four rings (all gold), RM1,000 cash, and computer tablet missing. The police are investigating the case.
