Labuan police interact with students on first day of new school session

LABUAN: Police here set into motion their ‘Back To School 2016′ programme by interacting with the students and their parents, on the first day of the 2016 school session yesterday.

Labuan acting police chief DSP Mohd Ibrahim Mohd. Ghani said 54 police officers and men visited 14 primary schools, eight secondary schools, Labuan Matriculation College and the Labuan Vocational College.

“In this programme, the police together with the schools’ principals, headmasters, headmistresses and senior assistant teachers interacted to welcome the students to the schools.

“We distributed brochures on crime prevention and safety to the students and the parents. We also spoke and gave advice to the students during the school assembly session,” he said.

Mohd Ibrahim added at SMK Labuan, the police organized an exhibition about a career in the police, narcotics, traffic and crime.

“Overall, we have achieved our objective in this programme as aspired by our top leadership, and we were very happy to be involved in welcoming the students to the schools, while giving out the message on the police’s concerns on issues of safety and crime prevention in schools,” he said.

Also present during the programme was the new director of Labuan Education Department, Raisin Saidin.
