KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Hj Aman welcomes the move by Petronas to fund the development of a Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Teknikal in Ranau.
“This is good news for Sabah. As such the State Government will extend its assistance in terms of identifying and approving a suitable site for the project in question,” he said.
Petronas will fund the construction of a Technical MRSM campus that is expected to be completed in three years time and house some 450 students.
When completed, the campus which will be equipped with all the necessary learning facilities will be operated and maintained by Mara.
“The development of this MRSM in Ranau will provide rural kids with access to quality education and thereafter increase the pool of skilled workers that is more competent, competitive and marketable,” he said.
Musa who is also Finance Minister, said the project reflected Petronas’ commitment towards the development of education and the welfare of communities in the country through its Corporate Social Investment (CSI).
He said this in a statement after a briefing on the project by Petronas officials to the State Cabinet yesterday.
He hoped that Petronas will continue to expand its CSR programmes not only on education but also on other aspects of socioeconomic development in Sabah as a means of improving the welfare of the people.
