SIBU: A huge crowd thronged the Sejiwa Senada programme at the Sibu Town Square Phase 2 on Friday to watch Datuk Jamal Abdillah perform.
Many fans turned up as early as 5.30pm to catch Jamal, who has been singing since 1973, in action. Other performers included Noh Hujan, Ricky Andrewson and Astro Got Talent 2013 winner Esther Thian.
Meanwhile, Ismail Bolhi won the Malay Veterans Karaoke Contest, while Mahsen Sahari and Sharifah Hanifah were second and third respectively.
For the Mandarin Karaoke Contest, Ling Sing Kiong defeated second placed Tiong Suh Lee and third placed Chiew Mei Mei for the top prize. Deputy State Secretary Misnu Taha presented the prizes. Sejiwa Senada will continue today with the Walk A Mile and Sejiwa Senada Run at 7.30am, which will be launched by Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee.
The public can also try wall climbing for free or take part in street soccer and 3-on-3 basketball. Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh is scheduled to officially close the event at 7pm.
