MARUDI: The protem committee of SPDP Mulu division was formed last Saturday.

The committee comprises party members from Lio Mato (Upper Baram) Tutoh and Poyut/Lubok Nibong who were under Telang Usan constituency before the delineation exercise.

Mulu is one of the 11 new seats created following the re-delineation of state constituencies.

The protem committee was formed during a meeting at Telang Usan Hotel in Miri, which was attended by some 100 SPDP members. Baram MP Anyi Ngau, who was appointed as the divisional committee advisor, officiated the meeting.

Leading the committee is Dr Roland Dom Matu as chairman.

Others in the protem committee are TR Blalang Atom (deputy chairman), Lun Anid @ Hendrick Iboh, Richard Seling and Esaw Mikir (vice chairmen I,II and III respectively), Lian Tarawe (secretary), Nancy Henry (assistant secretary), TK Peter Edam (treasurer), Wellesly Bolly Ongie (publicity officer), Nancy Henry (Women chief) and Haris Peter (youth chief).

Ordinary committee members are TK Nyurang Ngau, Suel Garit, Agung Bangau, Dora Lee and TK Bujang Long.

Anyi Ngau and Robert Ayu are advisors.

Mulu constituency has some 8,500 voters, with Poyut/Lubok Nibong areas formerly under Telang Usan having 2,009 voters.

Anyi in his speech said the Chief Minister had indicated that the Mulu seat would be for a Kelabit.

“In line with that, we in SPDP want the constituency,” he said.

At the meeting, the committee endorsed Robert Ayu, who is SPDP Youth chief, to be the candidate if the seat is given to SPDP.
