SANDAKAN: A 41-year-old man was killed and four others were injured when two vehicles collided at Km 54, off Sandakan-Lahad Datu bypass here on Tuesday night.
District police chief ACP Zabidi Md Zain said the incident happened around 11.20pm when a Proton Iswara heading for Sandakan from Lahad Datu collided head-on with a Proton Saga FLX coming from the opposite direction.
He said the Proton Iswara driver, identified as Dakis Bin Sapi, died at the scene, while the driver of the Proton Saga FLX and his three passengers were injured.
The injured victims had been sent to the Kinabatangan Hospital and Lahad Datu Hospital, he said.
The driver, who was killed, had been sent to the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan, Zabidi added.
He said the case would be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
