SIBU: Police detained a lorry driver and seized from him two homemade air guns and two incomplete air guns along with 17 bullets when they raided a house at Teku Road at 2.40am yesterday following a tip-off.

Sibu police chief ACP Mohd Kamal Kordi said the raiding team was led by ASP Tega Bilong.

They arrested the 39-year-old house owner and seized the weapons from his bedroom.

It is learned that the man used the weapons for hunting.

Marbles were used as bullets for the air guns.

The case is being investigated under the Arms Act, 1960.

In a separate case, a civil servant almost lost a tyre of his 4-wheel-drive vehicle parked in the compound of Sibu Hospital.

As he was walking back to his vehicle, he saw another 4-wheel-drive vehicle parked very near to his and went over to check.

He saw a couple inside the vehicle and asked why they parked their vehicle so close to his but they did not respond.

He was walking over to his vehicle when the other vehicle took off.

As he started his vehicle engine, he heard noise from behind his vehicle caused by one of his rear tyres falling off.

Apparently there was an attempt to steal the tyre as its screws were missing.
