PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has decided to refer to two panels the decision of Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali to close its investigation into three cases relating to SRC International Sdn Bhd and an alleged RM2.6-billion donation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The MACC said in a statement yesterday that its top management decided to refer the matter to the Operations Evaluation Panel (PPO) and a special panel to be appointed, for evaluation and consideration.
The PPO is an independent body set up by the government to monitor the performance of the MACC in accordance with the MACC Act 2009.
The panel is chaired by Tan Sri Dr Hamid Bugo and comprises as members Tan Sri Mohamed Jawhar Hassan, Datuk Zamani Abdul Ghani, Datuk Azizah Arshad, Datuk Wan Abdul Wahab Abdullah, Prof Dr Normah Omar, Dr P. Sundramoorthy and Lim Chee Wee.
One of the terms of reference of the panel is to give its opinion on cases that the Public Prosecutor decides not to pursue, the MACC said.
Mohamed Apandi on Tuesday cleared Najib of any criminal wrongdoing in the three cases and instructed the MACC to close the files. — Bernama
