BINTULU: The Borneo Hornbill Festival (BHF) 2016 will hold an audition on Saturday (Feb 6) at the Bintulu Civic Centre from 8.30am to 11.30am.

There will also be auditions tomorrow (Feb 5) in Miri, in Sibu on Saturday (Feb 6), Kuching on Sunday (Feb 7), Kota Marudu on Feb 12, Kota Kinabalu on Feb 13, Keningau on Feb 14 and Kuala Lumpur on Feb 20.

The fee is RM35 per person inclusive of a BHF T-shirt and button.

For the women’s categories, contestants must be aged 18 to 30, while for the men’s titles, they should be between 18 and 35 years old.

The competition will be divided into Miss Sabah Ethnic; Miss Ethnic KadazanDusun; Miss Ethnic Sabah Open; Miss Sarawak Ethnic; Miss Iban; Miss Bidayuh; Miss Orang Ulu; Mr Sabah and Mr Sarawak.

Winners of each category, including the top two for Mr Sarawak and Mr Sabah, will go to London for the grand finale.

This year’s prizes total RM100,000.

For the audition, contestants need only wear jeans and the BHF T-shirt.

Traditional costumes are only required for the semifinal in Kuala Lumpur and grand finale in London.

Up to 15 participants from each category will be selected for the semifinal.

The audition and online voting will determine those selected.

For the semifinal, participants will bear all costs but everything for the finals in London would be covered.

BHF has been held in Kuala Lumpur for the past eight years.
