KUCHING: United People’s Party has pledged to transcend party lines to be part of the State Barisan Nasional (BN) team in the forthcoming state elections.

Its president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh said in a statement yesterday they would work with all BN component parties to ensure Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem gets a big mandate from the people for the next five years.

“We are all part of Adenan’s Team and our candidates will stand as part of Adenan’s Team for the sake of the people of Sarawak and for Chinese community unity. We will leave it to the wisdom of the chief minister to pick the winnable candidates for his team.”

Wong stressed that it was crucial for all Sarawakians to rally behind Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem and give the biggest possible mandate for the devolution of power from the federal to the state.

“We have full confidence in him and we will support whoever he picks. With his charisma and popularity, all of Sarawak will be solidly behind him,” he added.
