BELAWAI: A family was made homeless after their wooden house in Kampung Masjid here was razed yesterday afternoon.
Sungai Merah Sibu Fire and Rescue Services (Bomba) Station received a call at 3.12pm and rushed six men in an engine to the village over 100 km away.
When the firemen arrived at the scene of the fire in about an hour and a half, the house was already razed to the ground and the flames had been put out by the villagers.
Bomba set up a counter to record the particulars of the victims and conduct investigations on the incident.
Three occupants of the house identified as Hamdan Mong, 50, a 25-year old woman and a three-year-old boy were not injured in the incident which early investigation revealed was caused by a short circuit in one of the bedrooms.
