Teras ready to strengthen BN foothold in Krian

SARATOK: Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) Krian division has activated its election machinery towards strengthening the Barisan Nasional (BN) foothold in the constituency currently being represented by Ali Biju of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

According to Teras Krian divisional chairman Banyie Beriak, the party is very organised, united and supported by its vast members of around 5,000 and a majority of the local community leaders.

Apart from members, local community leaders wanted Teras to be allocated the Krian state seat by the BN in the upcoming state election.

Banyie who is also Teras deputy secretary-general said the party had already formed 18 units in Krian.

“The units will ensure that Teras and BN election machineries are ready for the state polls. These units are formed in one or a combined of two or three polling centres. A few more units will be formed soon,” he stressed.

On Feb 6, the party set up an election machinery at Rumah Untan Sajok in Tanjong Sikop Melupa. The simple ceremony was attended by 280 people including three Penghulus and 26 longhouse chiefs. Among them were Penghulu Latan Ambau, Penghulu Anyom Kinyeh, TR Aman Nyireng, TR Mudit Numpang,TR Juing Randi, TR Untan, TR Nyegang Berinau, TR Maling, TR Bama, TR Majid Salok and party members Albert Renggian and Rambey Ijoi.

On Feb 7, a similar ceremony held at Rumah Josephine Entira Sigai, Engkabang Rias, Mapar saw four Penghulus namely Latan Ambau, Anyom Kinyeh, Ali Bin and Garan Chunggot and Pemanca Edward Gella Baul as well as 28 longhouse chiefs voicing their wish that Banyi should be nominated the BN candidate in Krian.
