JITRA: The police have detained eight men in connection with the seizure of four pistols, an airgun, several bullets and drugs in two raids on Wednesday and yesterday.

The raids were in Jalan Kangar-Kodiang and Kampung Paya Ked Long, Changlun.

Kedah police chief Datuk Zamri Yahya said in the first raid yesterday, the police raided a workshop in Jalan Kangar-Kodiang about 12.20am and picked up four men aged between 25 and 43.

He said three pistols, 19 bullets and nine packets of heroin weighing 5.33 grammes and Syabu (14.41 grammes) were found in a sling bag belonging to one of the suspects.

“We found that the 43-year-old man has criminal records for drugs and attempted murder,” he told a press conference at the Kubang Pasu police headquarters here yesterday.

Zamri said the four suspects were remanded for seven days, beginning on Wednesday.

In the second raid at 3.10am yesterday, four youths were picked up at a road-shoulder in Kampung Paya Ladang Ked Long, Changlun in connection with the seizure of a pistol, airgun and drugs.

Zamri said the pistol loaded with 9mm bullets was found tucked in the waistband of one of the suspects while syabu weighing 1.5 grammes and an airgun were found in a black bag.

He said the suspects, aged between 18 and 39 would be remanded until Feb 17. — Bernama
