Saidol joins in the harvesting of paddy to the delight of the locals.
DARO: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Semop Youth branch and Semop Saberkas jointly held a paddy harvesting event ‘Jom Beduruk Mupor Padai’ at Kampung Penibong here Thursday.
Semop assemblyman Abdullah Saidol, who joined the villagers in the harvesting event, said they had been planning it for three years.
“The programme was held in appreciation of the farmers in the area, especially paddy planters,” he said.
He said youth involvement in the programme showed that careers in agricultural and fishery were important as they play an important role in the national economy.
“Our state has fertile lands and we are capable of producing our own food without depending on import. Importing food will cause losses to our country,” he said.
”I hope youths in Pulau Bruit (closed to the halal industry development in Tanjung Manis) take the opportunity to be involved directly or indirectly with any activity or prospect at the halal hub.”
He said the event would be put on their annual calendar and hoped it could be made more interesting.
The activities included participants taking part in the paddy harvesting and 23 owners of paddy farms receiving tokens of appreciation.
