KUCHING: A teenager was badly hurt after a car driven by his friend crashed into a concrete road divider and overturned at the Tun Salahuddin Bridge early yesterday.

The 17-year-old was travelling in a car with two other passengers when the 31-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle following a tyre puncture.

The car, which was travelling towards Jalan Pending, initially slammed onto the raised concrete road divider blocks before ‘flipping’ over into the opposite lane and overturning a number of times.

Nearby residents came to help the victims after hearing the crash and called for an ambulance to send the victims to the hospital.

The teenager is believed to have suffered internal bleeding and was admitted to Sarawak General Hospital, while the driver sustained light injuries and was warded in the Yellow Zone of the hospital.

The two other passengers in the car were unhurt in the 1am incident.
